Airbags in Cars
SEI Approved Helmets for Equestrians
When a person is involved in a dangerous car accident, an airbag is released to protect the passenger from fatality and other injuries. The airbag increases the time of impact for the passenger and provides some ''give'' so that their face does not hit something hard like the dashboard or go through the window.
Acording to the American Riding Instructors Association, 60% of equestrian deaths are cause by head injuries. Helmets provide protection for the rider's head. When they take a fall from the horse, the helmet will absorb the impact, and not their head. Therefor, the helmet increases the time of impact for the rider. This prevents concusions, memory impairment, and other head injuries (American Riding Instructors Association).
