8th Grade Course Description 2008 Art Foundations – Students should have a basic understanding and interest in art and art techniques. Grading will be based on the student’s skills at this level. The basic elements of drawing, perspective, shading, color and design will be emphasized in this class. Students will explore a variety of art media and techniques. Art Foundations II – Students will continue with another semester of art. Composition, design problems, value studies and color theory will be reinforced in each lesson. Students will prepare for the art courses offered at the high school level. Students must sign up for the first level of art foundations before adding this class. 7th Grade Course Desriptions - 2008 Intro to Art I - Students, interested in art, will begin with a basic review through drawing. We will focus on perspective through lessons in value. Techniques in pencil and color will be reinforced. Students work through drawing problems, painting exercises, and will have an introduction to printmaking and sculpture. Intro to Art II- In this next level students will focus on drawing. Students will continue to work through drawing problems such as perspective, grid drawings, and pointillism. The projects will focus on composition skills and design problems. Students will take this course after completing the first level, Intro to art I
