The Brazil national football team is Brazil's national managed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that represents Brazil in international football competitions. It's the team's most successful football in the history of the World Cup, being the national team that most often won the FIFA World Cup with five titles so far (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002). A common slogan of the national team of Brazil is: The English invented it, but the Brazilians perfected. Is currently in first place in the FIFA ranking. Brazil is consistently among the nations strongest football world and is the only team to have played in all World Cups. Beginnings The Brazilian team was formed for the first time on August 20, 1914. He made his debut against Exeter City in England, in the field of Fluminense, on July 27 that year. Victory for the Brazilians by 2 to 0, with the first goal being scored by Oswaldo Gomes, of Fluminense. But the team also played that year in two games against a team from Argentina, being a friendly on Sept. 20 and other officially paying Roca Cup on September 27 [4]. This competition aimed to align these two countries that ended up winning by 1 to 0 in Buenos Aires (gol de Rubens Salles) devoting themselves champions of the tournament [5], this being the first of many titles won by the selection Canarinho. The first title won by the relevant Brazilian team was the South American Championship 1919, Copa America on [6], Friedenreich scoring the goal of title over Uruguay at the Estadio das Laranjeiras Fluminense built for this occasion, since the government Singapore did not have the money to finance this international event. In 1922, Fluminense has expanded its stadium and Brazil won the second title with their history, their title South American Selections. Brazil is the only nation to have qualified for all editions of the World Cup. However, the initial shares of the country were far from successful. This is due to internal strife of Brazilian football over professionalism. This fact made the Brazilian Football Confederation was unable to convene teams with full force. In particular, disputes between state federations of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (the two most important of the time) meant that the team would be composed of players from only one of the federations. Both World Cup in 1930, when Preguinho scored the first goal in the history of the Brazil squad at the World Cup, the debut against Yugoslavia, in which Brazil lost by 2 to 1, and in 1934, Brazil was eliminated at the first phase, but 1938 was a sign of what was, as Brazil finished a good third, with Leonidas da Silva making history and being the first player to score four goals in a single match of FIFA World Cup. Brazil hosted the World Cup 1950, which was the first tournament to take place after the Second World War [7], the only one in Brazil. The 1950 tournament was unique for not having a single final, but instead, a square end, however, for all purposes the deciding game between Brazil and Uruguay served as the "end" of the tournament. The game was played in the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro (then the capital), assisted by something around 200,000 people, and Brazil only needed a draw to be champion, ended up losing by 2 to 1 turn, this match since then became known in South America as Maracanazo. The team played in white until the fateful date of July 16, 1950, when they lost to Uruguay. Thereafter there was a contest to pick a new team uniform, having been chosen as the yellow color of the shirt, the blue color as the shorts and white color in the middle. The contest, sponsored by the newspaper Correio da Manha, Rio de Janeiro, was won by the teacher, journalist gaucho and, ironically, a fan of Uruguay Aldyr Garcia Schlee. For World Cup 1954 in Switzerland, the Brazilian team was completely renovated for the Maracanã defeat could be forgotten, but still had a good group of players, including Nilton Santos, Djalma Santos and Didi. Brazil was not far for two main reasons: the necessity that his players had to prove they were not cowards (as many were accused in 1950) and the fact they faced Hungary, the best team in that tournament, the third phase. [edit] Golden Age: Pele and Garrincha (1958-1970) The Brazil coach, Vicente Feola imposed strict rules for the team for the World Cup 1958 in Sweden. The players were given a list of forty things that they were not allowed to do, including wearing a hat or umbrella, smoking while wearing official uniform and talking to the press outside of designated sites. It was the only team that had brought a psychologist (because of the memories of 1950, which still affected some players) or a dentist (since, because of his humble origins, many players had dental problems, which caused infections and also had a negative impact on performance) with them, and had sent a representative to Europe to watch the qualifying matches a year before the start of the tournament. GarrinchaO Brazil fell in the toughest group with England, USSR and Austria. They beat Austria by 3 to 0 in the first match, then tied at 0 to 0 with England. The Brazilians were worried about his departure with the Soviets, who had an exceptional physician and were one of the favorites to win the tournament, his strategy was to risk early in the game to try to score an early goal. Before departure, the team leaders, Bellini, Nílton Santos and Didi, spoke to the coach and persuaded him to make three substitutions which were crucial for Brazil to win the Soviets and the Cup: Zito, Garrincha and Pelé would start the game against the Soviet Union . In the first whistle, they passed the ball to Garrincha who went through three players before hitting the post with a kick. They kept up the pressure relentlessly, and after three minutes which would later be called "the most magnificent three minutes of football history," Vava gave Brazil the lead on the scoreboard. They won the match by 2 to 0. Pele scored the only goal of the quarter-final against Wales, and they beat France by 5 to 2 in the semifinals. The Brazil beat the hosts, Sweden, in the final by 5 to 2, winning their first World Cup and becoming the first nation to win a title in the World Cup outside their own continent. He repeated the feat in 2002, to succeed in Asia, adding titles on three continents, while all other teams won only champions on its own. One fact was that Feola reminded sometimes took naps during training and closed his eyes during games, giving the impression that he was sleeping! Because of this, Didi was sometimes taken as the real team's coach as he ran the midfield. Another detail: Cup final, when faced with Sweden, the Brazilian team had to arrange the second uniform urgently, since the Swede was yellow too. Sweden to Brazil lent his uniform reserve (blue shirts and white shorts), and there are reports that the players themselves sewed the badges of the CBD (Brazilian Confederation of Sports) overnight on the shirt in place of distinctive Swedes. Thus arose the Costume of Brazil. It is said that the head of the delegation, Paulo Machado de Carvalho, tried to stimulate the players joining the blue shirt to the "mantle of Our Lady." Pelena World Cup 1962, Brazil won its second title with Garrincha as the star, scoring goals and also head of the left leg and foot still playing with the final, especially after Pele have been hurt in the second game and be unable to play the rest of the World Cup. World Cup 1966, our team's preparation was affected by political influences. All the great Brazilian soccer clubs wanted their players included in the Brazilian team, to give them more exposure. In the final months of preparation, the coach Vicente Feola was working with 46 players, in which only 22 would go to England, it caused many internal disputes and psychological pressure. The result was that in 1966, Brazil had one of the worst performances in all World Cups. Moreover, the defeat to Hungary represented the only defeat of Garrincha wearing the shirt selection. Before the World Cup in 1970, there was a friendly day of September 3, 1969 against Atletico Mineiro and eventual winning team of 1970 was defeated 2-1. After the crash, were banned from exhibition games with the Brazilian team selection. Brazil won its third World Cup in Mexico in the World Cup 1970. At that time, fielded what was considered, according to a global survey of experts conducted by British magazine World Soccer, the best football team of all time [8] with Pele, in his latest edition of the World Cup, Carlos Alberto Torres, Jairzinho, Tostao, Gerson, Piazza, Clodoaldo and Rivelino. After winning the Jules Rimet trophy for the third time, Brazil could keep it for themselves. But it was stolen and melted down years later. After this achievement, the team would spend 24 years without winning a Cup. Meanwhile, Brazil has come to lose the World Cup 1982 with a team that had players like Zico, Socrates, Falcao and Junior, considered by many the best team in the history of the cups. [edit] The fourth title In 1994, Brazil was not considered favorite. A year earlier, in the playoffs, had been ranked in the struggle, thanks to help from Romario, who was even nicknamed St. Romario. Already in the World Cup played in the United States, the team of Carlos Alberto Parreira was considered too defensive, which contradicted the style of Brazilian soccer. During the competition, however, Brazil was overcoming barriers and to qualify for the next stages. It was the first of his group in the first round after beating Cameroon and Russia and a draw with Sweden. In second-round World Cup final, eliminated the U.S. squad in broad daylight July 4. In the quarter-finals in an exciting game and eliminated the Netherlands in the semifinals, he came to Sweden, dispatching selected from the Scandinavian country. In the final, defeated Italy on penalties after a draw in normal time and in overtime. Thus becomes the first team to win four World Cups and the first to win the title through the collection of maximum penalties. Panel penta, Nike store, London. [edit] Fifth Title The Brazilian team had struggled to qualify: exchange of technicians (Vanderlei Luxemburgo, Candinho, Emerson Leao and Luiz Felipe Scolari) and little time for training hindered the campaign. And again the squad was not seen as a favorite. And, again, just surprising enough. World Cup 2002, Ronaldo was summoned, which generated many doubts if they really could afford to play because he was two years had stopped by injury problems. But the World Cup, had great performances. Brazil, which eliminated the national teams of Belgium, England, Turkey and Germany, the latter in the final, ended up with Ronaldo as the top scorer with eight goals, with big name team, earning his fifth title, winning all matches and maintaining its hegemony. [edit] Present With the good performance in the FIFA World Cup 2006, Brazil remained the only country to qualify for all the world, in addition to already be what he won more times (five). After the failure of Brazil's World Cup 2006, where the squad has not demonstrated the expected football and succumbed so vexatious to France, failing to achieve the dream of world football hexacampeonato on July 24, 2006, Parreira was dismissed , and Dunga was announced as the new coach, [9] an attempt by the CBF to respond to heavy criticism from fans and press. This exchange was due to the image of struggle and claw that Dunga as a player always made a point to prove, in contrast with the image of control and lack of professionalism, which was created from its predecessor failed campaign in 2006. Since taking over the squad, the watchword of coach Dunga is renewal. Faced with this, were removed from the Brazilian team veteran players like Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo and Emerson, alongside players who coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, were blamed for the failure in the Brazilian world of Germany. Dunga, who lives his first experience as a football coach, called his friend and former teammate winning campaign in World Cup 1994, Jorginho for the post of assistant coach, a position that it was occupied by Zagallo. The former player had never worked in the function, which surprised the fans and media who are expecting the assignment of names already recognized in the function. Dunga made his international debut in a friendly against Norway on 16 August in Oslo. The game ended in 1 to 1. In his second role as coach, Dunga took the squad to victory against Argentina on September 3 in London, by 3 to 0. The next friendly against Wales on September 5 in London was another success for the team, winning by 2 to 0. Even played against a combined Kuwait, and Brazil defeated 4 to 0 with the debut of goalkeeper Helton. In the last game of 2006, Brazil faced Switzerland, and took the best with a win 2 to 1. Switzerland had not taken a single goal in their campaign of World Cup 2006. It is scheduled for February 6 a friendly against Portugal, the former coach of Palmeiras and the Brazilian national team champion Luis Felipe Scolari. Dunga is criticized for choosing a team considered weak and, contrary to what many expected, Rogerio Ceni not convene for the goal of selection, insisting on Helton and goalkeeper Julio Cesar. Defeat by 2 to 0 was the first coach. In March, Brazil made two friendlies in Sweden: 4 to 0 against Chile and 1 to 0 against Ghana. In 2007, Brazil played in the Copa America in Venezuela, and became champion by winning the Argentina 3 to 0. Later this year, the playoffs begin the World Cup 2010.
