What is color-blindness? By: Luke B
This video helps you diagnose if you are color blind or not along with showing what color blind people cannot see.
This video describes how color blindness effects people and why it occurs.
This picture shows the types of color blindness and the people affected.
Our eyes have rods and cones that allow us to see. The rods in the peripheral retina allow us to see in the dark. While the cones in the center of the retina allow us to see color, and everyone of these cones contain a specific pigment which allow that certain cone to pick up a range of wavelengths. In your genes when you are born some of these cones are equipped with the wrong pigment. When these cones are given incorrect pigments it causes people to be unable to see the difference between certain colors. Color blindness is not exactly being blind to color but is is more correctly called color vision deficiencies.
Another image showing what a color blind person would likely see.
Color blindness is a rare condition where it is difficult to distinguish between different hues of colors. There are three main types of color blindness Red/Green color blindness, Blue/Yellow color blindness, and the rarest type Dichromasy where you only see black and white. There is no cure for color blindness, but it is not a disability and people affected usually learn to cope with color blindness.
