1. Photons absorbed by pigment complex of P II
2. Electron acceptor picked up excites electron from reaction centre to move down the ETC.
4. Photons also absorbed by the pigment complexes of P I
3. P II splits H2O into 1/2 O2 and 2H+
5. Electron acceptor picked up excites electron from reaction centre
6. Electron lost by P I (P700 Chloropyll a) are replace by electron travelling down from the P II
7. Electron transported down in ETC OF P I (P680) will pass 2electron and an H+ to NADP+ molecule. NADP+ will become NADPH.
Energy released will used to pump the protons across thylakoid membrane (H+ gradient). When this H+ flow down through ATP synthase complexes, ATP production occurs.
