FIGHTING BAC
-Hands should always be washed with warm, soapy water. -You should wash your hands for 20 seconds or more. -Paper towels are good for cleaning up kitchen surfaces. -Always wash your fresh produce before you eat it. -Remove damaged or bruised parts of produce, and throw it away.
CHILL!
SEPERATE!
CLEAN!
~The fridge temperature should be consistently 40degrees or lower, but no lower than 32degrees. ~Never over stuff the fridge, cold air must circulate to keep the food safe. ~NEVER DEFROST FOOD AT ROOM TEMP. ~Keep ALL perishable foods chilled until they are served. ~Defrosting food in the fridge is the best method. ~Only defrost food in the microwave, if you are going to cook it immediately. ~Don't defrost food with hot water.
+Make sure there are no cold spots in the food, when cooking in a microwave oven, because bacteria can live there. +When reheating sauces, soups, and gravies bring them to a boil. +Foods are properly cooked only when they reach a high enough inside temp. to kill bacteria.
COOK!
*Use separate cutting boards for fresh produce and raw meat, poultry and seafood. *Raw meats and seafood, and eggs, should never be placed back on a plate that it was on after it is cooked. *Put raw foods in sealed containers or plastic bags on the bottom shelf of the refridgerator.
