Fashion of the 1950's
The 50s was a decade of fun, excitement and individuality! It was also the decade that started rock n' roll, and influenced many types of dance (Waltz, Charleston, Jive, Swing, Lindy Hop, Mashed Potato, and many more.) Because of the dancing, poodle skirts and boyfriend jeans became much more popular. The advancement in television also spread fashion trends quicker. In the 50’s when women and men went to dances they wore special outfits. Women wore a short sleeve shirt, black cardigan, penny loafers, and a poodle skirt with their hair up in a pony with a tie around it. Men wore slicked back hair with penny loafers, a white shirt and rolled up jeans.
