Many believe that he isn't the author of the poems because ''Homer'' is not the name of any historical poet but a fictitious name.
Homer was a blind Greek poet. He wrote the Odyssey and Iliad. They were never written down and transfered orally.
Lived in the Eighth Century Born 800 B.C. -Died 750 B.C
People thought it was unlikely that both epics were composed by the same person because of the different styles and languages of these epics. But an analyst Longinus agrued that the epics were different styles because Homer wrote them in differnt time periods of his life. The Iliad was written in his youth and the Odyssey was wriiten when he was older.
Little is known about who Homer actually was, and many sources dispute whether biographical information is actually important to a scholarly understanding of his literary works
To this day, there is continuing debate over whether or not the poet actually existed. And if he did, there are serious doubts about his authorship. Legends about Homer were numerous in ancient times.
Homer lived in Greece, was the son of Epikaste and Telemachus.
The time of Homer was also an important time of Greek history. His ideas and styles formed the basis of Greek education
