Kentucky Fried Chicken
Ever wonder how the “finger-lickin’ good” chicken was started? Well, in 1940 the original recipe was born. Today the chicken is sold daily across the United States, and also in over eighty other countries. Over the first several years of his life, he worked at many different jobs, and always came home to cook his mom and siblings dinner. His specialty was, as you probably may have guessed, fried chicken. He used his cooking skills to provide meals for travelers who came by his service station. His cooking became more and more famous, and moved into an actual restaurant nearby. His specialty was of course fried chicken, and it was seasoned with eleven herbs and spices. In 1935, the governor made him Kentucky Colonel, for his cooking skills. In the 1950’s, a new highway was constructed that led people out of town. That is when Sanders saw his business coming to an end. That’s when he closed the restaurant, retired, and started receiving his social security checks for $105 a month. He then decided to stop living off the government, and instead, to have others invest in his fried chicken recipe, and Kentucky Fried Chicken was born.
