The Lady Or The Tiger
A plot structure is the way the plot in the story is going to work.
The conflict in the story is that the princess's lover is being prosecuted. The conflict is both phycological and physical because the man has to physically choose a door and has to think of which door to pick.
This story is written in a 3rd person limited point of view.
The antagonist in this story is the King. This is because he throws the young man in jail. The young man is the protagonist because he is the main character choosing the door.
A metaphor is a comparison without the use of words like or as. "When her lover turned and looked at her, and his eye met hers as she sat there, paler and whiter than anyone in the vast ocean of anxious faces about her, he saw, by that power of quick perception which is given to those souls who are one, that she knew which door crouched the tiger, and behind which stood the lady."
A simile is a comparison using the words like or as. "This semi-barbaric King had a daughter as blooming as his most florid fancies, and with a soul as fervent impervious as his own."
A symbol in this story might be a tiger. This is because the King punishes people by a tiger.
The theme of the story is that you have to make the right choices or face the consequences. In the story, the young man chose to love the daughter of the King and he knew what would happen if anyone found out. Another example of this would be in the end where the daughter has a choice to either kill or let her lover live. She has to make the right decision or face the consequences of her actions.
