Mass ExtinctionsBy: Madilyn Luczynski
To understand Mass Extinction you have to know what it is. Extinction is the death of all members of a species. A Mass Extinction is an episode during which large numbers of species become extinct.
Some causes of Mass Extinction may be from changes in the environment so extreme that migration and adaptation are impossible. Another answer would be from species dying from bacteria/viruses.
Some scientists think that there is another mass extinction occurring today. They say that this extinction is taking place because of today's ecosystem.
An example of mass extinction would be the rainforest. They are being destroyed by human activity. If the current rate of destruction continues, 22%-47% of plant species will be lost along with 2,000 out of 9,000 species of birds and many insects.
