Aurora Borealis
The darkness flows across the land Interrupted by the silent dance Amongst the stars in the night sky Aurora waltzes to an unheard tune Her silken skirts flowing around her ankles Each piece, a kaleidoscope of colours Captivating her watchers in admiration She is enchanting, bewitching A Siren in the sky Her serenity meanders across the seas Enveloping shadows in luminescent passion Framing the enchantment in the sky Ahead, her children play Prancing about, plunging ahead then doubling back Each competing with the next She watches, radiant as a mother to be Glowing with pride Following with delighted eyes Ushering them along She drifts into the darkness Heading to an unknown destination The colours bleed over the vast horizon Like a painter’s canvas or the tide Washing over the skyline Then orb of fire rise from the depths Leaping, surging from within Bathing all in vivid light Chasing away the magic of the night
