Pantera was a band formed by the Abbott brothers (Vinnie Paul, the drumer and Dimebag, the guitarist), Rex Brown, the bassist and Phil Anselmo the singer. It would not be until nine years after forming that Pantera saw its first piece of commercial success in its 1990 major label debut, Cowboys from Hell. From there, Pantera became one of the most celebrated heavy metal bands of the 1990s. Pantera began to suffer from mounting tensions between band members in the mid-1990s, largely due to Phil Anselmo's rampant drug abuse. So few yars later Pantera was dissolved by the Abbott brothers who formed Damage Plan. The 8th of december of 2004 a mad fan took the stage and murdered Dimebag Darrell with a gun.
