The dictionary definition for refugees is one who flees in search of refuge as in times of war, political oppression, or religious persecution. Most refugees flee their homes because where they are living is dangerous and could harm them. They flee because they might be in danger of physical harm to them or their families. Refugees come from unstable countries run by corrupt government systems. Currently there are an estimated number of eleven to twelve million refugees. When someone decides to seek refuge, they go to the nearest, safest neighbouring country. The top countries for hosting refugees are: Pakistan, Syria, Jordan, Iran, and Guinea. Around seventy percent of the world’s refugees are in Africa and the Middle East.
I think that our country should be doing more to help with the refugees. If Canada would bring refugees here then we would be seen as a more friendly country and we would get recognized for that. Also, with refugees here we could keep them safe from harm and we could improve our economy by filling in more jobs with more people for less money.
