Coca Cola Advertisement-analysis. Coca cola is a company that has produced soft drinks since 1886, and in the advert from the 50’s the original Coca Cola-drink is presented. The origin of the commercial is unknown, though I believe it were most probably an advert for a billboard or magazine due to its drawn nature. The targeted potential buyers of this product are mainly young people and young adults of both genders. I can tell by the character in the picture because it is a female model consuming on the product in a time were women’s right are limited, also the slogan is direct yet still with a “laid-back” chime to it which I believe attract young people.
The ad’s “main attraction” I think, is the young woman sitting with a glass of coke in her hand and making gestures for the viewer to join her. Today the ad would seem disturbingly discriminating against females, but that was what advertising in the 50’s were all about, namely attracting the young men simply because they were the ones with money to spend at the time. The picture also has a warm and somewhat natural touch to it that personally makes me comfortable in the way of highlighting and chummy mood. In later years Coca cola have used people’s desire to just sit down and relax with something refreshing as mean to attract youngsters, which I think is a main-aspect about this ad as well. Also the slogan “Have a coke” has a simple “drugging” effect, which makes one want to just relax and stop stressing. And in peoples sub-consciousness during a relaxed attitude, the direct message “Have a coke”, will affect people surprisingly much. I think this ad mostly attracted young men, because they often don’t mind slight discrimination and have a strong desire to just relaxing and forgetting about their problems.
