Chief Diplomat:
The role as Chief Diplomat is the most important role for the president of today. With advances in technology in the past century, more and more countries are becoming just as powerful as the United States. Countries like China and North Korea that used to be solely agricultural nations are now nuclear capable countries. As a greater number of countries are gaining technology, like nuclear capability, the relationship between our nation and these new powers is more crucial then ever. We must remain an ally or at least a neutral power to these opposing nations in order to keep the peace and ensure the safety of our country. This is where the president comes in; he plays the role as the leader of foreign relations. He is in charge of appointing people as ambassadors, who will speak on behalf of our nation to other countries. Not only does he appoint people to these positions, but must also complete this task on his own. He must make appearances at international events, host leaders from other countries, and hold meetings with ambassadors and leaders if there is ever a problem that needs solving.
