English 12 Poetry Assignment ~Melissa Kross~
Who Stole the Cookies? A ceramic trap of temptation Puts every child’s will at test The tender, sensational, goodness Of a batch of mother’s best That one off-limit container Can spoil any appetite By secretly indulging In every child’s delight It calls to you to stick your hand Into its gaping trap Containing sickly sweetness Sure to catch you in the act The clanking of the lid Against the sides of the jar A dead give away to mom To be heard from afar A deadly tattle tale Taking pride in its snitching The tricky ways of cookie jars Are worse than any sibling By: Melissa Kross
