Brown Vs. Board of Education On May 17, 1954, Chief Earl Warren read the decision from the unaimous court, that seperate but equal has no place. This stated that seperate education facilities are inherently unequal. To protect this law the 14th Amendment was made.
A man that was 1/8 black and 7/8 white bought a train ticket and sat in the white section of the train. He was kicked off because he was still considered black. He took his problem to the courts and there the judge stated everything would remain seperate but equal.
Thurgood Marshall, Although he is not as recognized as Martin Luther King or Rosa Parks he was the one working in the courts to eraticate the legacy of slavery and destroy the racist segregation system of Jim crow. He was also cheief counselor of the NAACR. He ended legal segregation in the United Stated, won supreme court victories breaking color lines in housing, transportation and voting.
Little Rock Nine The little rock nine was a group of nine African American students involved in the desegregation of Little Rock Central high school. On may 24, 1955 the Blossom plan took place. This is another names for the plan for gradual integration.
Freedom Rides The first freedom ride took place May 4, 1961 when seven blacks and six whites left Washington, D.C, on two public buses bound for the deep South. They were testing the new supreme court ruling Boyton V. Virginia which declared segregation in interstate buses and rail station unconstitutional. The first week of their trip the experiended minimun hostility, yet the second week the riders were severly beaten and one of the buses were burnt. The didnt want to end the trip because of the violence towards them, because they were afraid it would send a band message. So the remaining riders continued.
The march on Washington for Jobs and Freedom took place in Washington D.C, on August 28, 1963. It was attended by over 250,000 people, it was the largest demonstration ever seen in the nation's capital and one of the first to have extensive television coverage.
Civil Rights Act Outlawed Segragation in schools, public places and employment. It created equal employment oppurtunity.
Voting Rights Act Outlawed Discriminatory voting practices that had been responsible for widespread disfranchisement of African Americans in the U.S

His goal was of resurrecting the spiritual, mental, social and economic conditions of Black men and women of America and that god would bring universal government of peace. The Assassination of a King On April 4, 1968 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was shot in the neck in front of his room at Lorraine Motel. After his death was announced a massive riot broke out.
President Obama shares common similarities with the late Martin Luther King Junior. This is because he is a strong speaker. He was also involved in the church and is the first black president in American history.
