Solipsism
This symbolizes solipsism because the secretarys speech impediment will make it so nobody will ever completely understand her. Mr. Lester can try all he wants but he will never completely understand.
Another great example is an episode of The Twilight Zone where a writer is sitting having drinks with a younger woman when his wife comes home and sees them. When she knocks on the door the man takes tape from his recorder and throws it into the fireplace. The basic plot of the story is that he can create people or animals just by describing them into this tape recorder. This shows solipism because everybody he interacts with is his own perception of that person. His wife got the power of free will so he opened a safe and took out an envelope containing her tape. She throws it into the fire in disbelief and she disappeared.
Solipsism is the idea that you can only prove that your own mind exists - everything you sense is your perceptions. Also you cannot fully understand anyone but yourself.
