Chief Executive The President is given "the executive power of the United States" by the Constitution.
Chief of State The President acts as the head of the U.S. government and the symbol of the American people.
Chief Diplomat The President develops plans for American foreign policy. He is the nation's chief spokesperson.
Chief Legislator The President designs America's public policies. He sets grounds for the congressional agenda.
Commander in Chief The President directs and controls the nation's armed forces.
Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Hawaii. He lived in Hawaii, Indonesia, and New York where he graduated from Columbia University in 1983. In 1991 he graduated with a law degree from Harvard. Since then Obama has worked as an Illinois State Senator and a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee. On January 20, 2009 he was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States as a member of the Democratic party.

From a HISTORICAL perspective Chief Executive was the most important role. The United States was a brand new nation when precidency began and the first few presidents devoted their terms to building a strong foundation for the United States government. When Washington was in office he created the policy of neutrality so that the U.S. would not get involved with other countries and could focus on becoming a more powerful nation.
From TODAY'S perspective Chief Executive is the most important role. In President Obama's short amount of time in office he has created plans such as the stimulus package and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. The nation is in an economic slump and people are unemployed. Obama is using his executive powers to make positive changes.
As Chief of State, Obama is a symbol of the USA.
As Chief Executive, Obama conrols domestic and foreign affairs.
As Commander in Chief, Obama meets with the armed forces.
As Chief Legislator, Obama works with the US Congress.
