Internet Access At School
In today's schools, many websites have been blocked from students access. The school system does this as a way to try and protect children, however, what they are really doing is blocking many valuable online resources. Schools have been blocking children from wiki's ,blogs, and other collaborative tools. While the school system is just trying to protect the children, what they are really doing is not giving the children valuable learning tools.
What can you do? Well, for starters, you can petition for open internet access in schools. children need to be allowed to access all of the valuable resources the internet has to offer.
Here are some ideas for getting started:
- Approach who is in charge of internet access at the schools. -Discuss aspects of digital inequalities -Make people aware -Present at a parent -teacher organization -Start using these tools in ways other teachers would have never thought of
