Henry VIII had six wives. He became Protestant in order to divorce his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. The Catholic church would not allow it. He also divorced Anne of Cleves. Two of his wives were executed, and one died. Henry died while married to Katherine Parr.
King Henry started the Anglican church, which was Protestant. It was called the Church of England. Henry rejected most Protestant doctrines and kept most Catholic forms of worship.
King Henry VIII had three children. King Edward VI became king, but died in his early ages. His mother was Jane Seymour, who died during delivery. Anne Boleyn and Henry had Elizabeth, who ruled England for 45 years. Catherine of Aragon. was the mother of Henry's daughter, Mary.
Henry died in 1547, and had only one son, who was Edward VI. He was a sickly child, and became King, but soon died. Mary Tudor (Bloody Mary) became Queen. When Mary died in 1558, Elizabeth (the Virgin Queen) took the throne.
In 1536, Parliament passed the Act of Supremacy. This made Henry the only supreme head on Earth of the Curch of England. Mant Catholics refused to accept the Act of Supremacy, therefore, they were executed for treason.
Anne Boleyn was the only wife that Henry had that he actually loved. Later, she was executed. She had a misscariage, and thought she was a witch. This is the mother of Elizabeth, who was Protestant and became Queen.
