Sea Otter
The Sea Otter is an average of 4 feet long, northern sea otters are slightly larger.
Mating season is throughout the year and the gestation period is 6-8 months. Normally only one otter is born at birth rarely had twins.
Otters can dive up to 330 feet under water to get their food. they crush their prey with rocks to get the meat out. Sea otters consume sea urchins, abalone, mussels, clams, crabs, and snails. they eat about 25 % of their own weight everyday.
Historically, otters were a population of almost a million.
The sea otters live in a marine biome.
The overall decline of sea otters occured because of fur trade, hunters and fishers, and homes being destroyed from the oil spills.
Sea otters sleep in kelp forests and cover themselves with a kelp layer.
