The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) brand, started in 1993 and is in it's fourteenth year of operation as a profesional MMA organization. offering the premier series of MMA sporting events.

The sport of MMA follows a rich history of competition dating back to the Olympic games in Athens. About 80 years ago, a Brazilian form of MMA known as Vale Tudo (anything goes) sparked local interest in the sport.

When Zuffa purchased the UFC, Dana White became the new president and they developed new rules and added weight divisions. MMA started to become a legit sport and it is now becoming the fastest sport in the world!

Once the UFC brand was launched, MMA popularity surged in Brazil, followed by immense interest in Japan where these bouts became major events.

In 648 B.C.E, The Greeks introduced the sport of Pankration. It was a mixture of Hellenic boxing and wrestling. Bouts could only end with a knock out or a submission.

As Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, grew in popularity in Brazil, the Gracies branched out to the United States. You can now find several BJJ academies across the states.

In 2006, UFC events led in pay per view sales with 5 million buys - beating out boxing and wrestling.

If there ever was a serious contender that competed with the UFC for the attention of MMA fans, it was the PRIDE Fighting Championships.
