Cri Du Chat is a genetic disorder in which a portion of the fifth pair of chromosomes is deleted
known as Cri du Chat syndrome french name ''cry of the cat''
abnormalities.
low birth weight and around 47% chance of respritory problems
slim chance for heart defect but usualy muscular and skeletal problems
Often the larnyx does not develope corectly and results in the signature cry of the child but does stop as the child devlp making it hard to diagnose around the age of two.
unusual rounding of the face and wide setting of the eyes.
How does it happen?
Cri Du Chat is one of the most common syndromes caused by chromosomal deletion. affects between 1 in 20,00-1 in 50,000babys
80 percent of the time; the deletion ocurs in the male sperm .Caused by unequal recombinations during mieosis . 8 out of 10 times.
fact:life expectancy is normal with those who have Cri Du Chat synd
