Instead of dreaming of fun and laughter She dreams of the pain that is her life Instead of imagining fairies and princesses She imagines the freedom of dying Instead of chasing butterflies She hides in the dark hoping she will disappear Instead of smelling the roses She smells the alcohol on his breath Instead of tasting sweets and chocolate She tastes him in her mouth Instead of being young and innocent She wears the weight of her life like an anchor
She is just a little girl She should not know what she knows She should not have seen those things She should not have done the things he made her do But he was her father He knew best He was there to protect her Who was she to protest? She was daddy’s dirty little girl
