Workers Radio Sydney is the only breakfast radio program in Sydney that actively fights for the rights of working families. It supports the Your Rights At Work campaign against John Howard's radical new workplace laws by providing timely information to union and community activists. It also seeks to educate workers about their legal rights and entitlements and advocated for people who have been unfairly treated by their employer. WRS also actively campaigns for social justice, the environment, peace, and Government policies to protect the most vulnerable in society. We believe in fighting for the best possible future for workers, the community and generations to come. WRS has now been broadcasting every weekday since August 2005 and has a loyal audience of people who are active in their workplaces and communities. It is generously funded by donations from a range of sponsors including trade unions, clubs, local councils, law firms, community organisations, financial institutions, workplaces and most importantly hundreds of individual members. WRS has played a vital part in a range of community campaigns, and many of our listeners have taken part by attending meetings, protests and picket lines, supporting local Your Rights At Work groups, and by phoning bad bosses to demand justice for workers. WRS has opposed the unfair IR laws, the exploitation of foreign guest workers, removal of rights for independent contractors and public service cuts. We have also been active in the campaign for compensation for James Hardie asbestos victims, defending public education and protecting Medicare. WRS is broadcast from Marrickville from 6am to 9am, Monday to Friday, on 88.9FM Radio Skid Row.
