Jean Valjean is sentenced to prison for a misdeamor crime. When he is released he starts a new life. He even changes his identity.Along the way he meets a woman named Fantine. Fantine asked him to find her daughter Cosette. After a wild and adventurous jouney, he finds Cosette and takes care of her like his own daughter.
Fantine is a fictional character in Victor Hugo's 1862 novel Les Misérables. She is a young orphaned grisette in Paris who becomes pregnant by a rich student. After he abandons her, she is forced to look after their child, Cosette, on her own. Originally a pretty and naive girl, she is eventually forced by circumstances to become a prostitute, selling her hair and front teeth, losing her beauty and health. The money she earns is sent to support her daughter.

Jean Valjean is a fictional character and the protagonist of Victor Hugo's 1862 novel Les Misérables. Hugo depicts the character's 19-year-long struggle to lead a normal life after serving a prison sentence for stealing bread to feed his sister's children during a time of economic depression and an attempted prison escape. When he is caught, he has to serve more years in prison. Then we he finally is released, he changes his indentity , hoping not to be revealed.
