Calories and Energy
Calorie : the amount of energy it takes to raise one gram of water one degree celcius.
Your daily intake of calories should be divided into three categories: - 15% Protein - 30% Fat - 55% Carbs
Your age, gender and level of activity plays a factor in how many calories you should eat per day.
To calculate how many calories are in your food you can use these conversions: 1g fat = 9 calories 1g carbs = 4 calories 1g protein = 4 calories *1 oz. bag of Potato Chips: 1o.6 g fat x9= 95.4 cal 14.1 g carbs x4=56.4 cal 1.9 g protein x4=7.6 cal
Remember to check serving sizes to ensure that you are calculating your calories correctly!
Claories in one slice of Cheese Pizza: Total calories: 290 from fat: 9 g from carbs: 39 g from protein: 15 g
Ways to burn Calories: Sitting- 1-2 calories per minute- 420-840 calories burned in one school day. (good reason to go to school!!) Running- 12 calories per minute Biking- 6 calories per minute Breathing- at -40 degrees C you burn 14.4 calories per hour Donating Blood- 650 calories by giving one pint of blood
