Changes in the size of a population may bring changes in the culture.
Ethnocentrism: People believe their own ideas and ways of doing things are best. Their culture is superior to others. Americans refusing to buy Japanese cars because it would put us out of work.
Vested Interests: A person who is satisfied with the way things are now is likely to resist change. Some poeple feel that the present even if imperfect is better then an unknown future. They resist any change that threaten their security or standard of living.
Cultural Lag: Traits transforming at a slow rate. Material cultural changes faster and nonmaterial lags behind. Technological change results in culture lag.
