Six Sources of Social Change
*Change from outside a society is met with resistance. *People tend to believe that their own ideas and ways of doing things are best. *Extreme ethnocentrism can make cultural borrowing difficult or impossible.
*Not all cultural traits change at the same rate. *Technology also results in cultural lag. *Material culture usually changes faster than nonmaterial culture.
*Some feel the present is better than the unknown future. *Workers oppose technology replacing them. *One who is satisfied with the present will also oppose change.
