What we have learned so far: There are five groups of VERTEBRATE animals (that means they have a backbone!) 1. Mammals: warm blooded, drink milk from mother, breathe with lungs, have hair or fur, live on land and in water. 2. Birds: have feathers, a beak, 2 wings and 2 legs, not all birds can fly, lay eggs 3. Fish: use gills to breathe, have scales, live in the water, cold blooded 4. Reptiles: cold blooded, most lay eggs, have scales, breathe with lungs 5. Amphibians: live on land and in water, breathe through skin in water, cold blooded, lay tiny eggs
