Longitudinal Studies
On May 11, 2009 we made some observations of the different plant life I could find in my back yard. Our study area was about 3 feet by 3 feet per quadrant with about 2 quadrants in the entire area. It was about 5:00 when we observed. And relatively mid day woodsy light conditions with a temperature of about 6o degrees. The soil was kind of dry but it had a muddy texture so there was some definet moisture from the previous rainy days. Here's what we found out...
1. Honey suckle 1.5 trees per quadrant, 3 trees total 2. Indian Berries low growth wild plant, 25 per quadrant, 50 total 3. Helicopters 50 per quadrant, 100 total 4. English Ivy 75 per quadrant, 150 total 5. Rodidindron medium sized low growth purple flower 10 flowers in quadrant, 20 flowers total
Biotic Data Roddiddindrons: 20 total, about 3 inches long, purple flower, low growth Honey suckles: 3 total trees, 5 inches with leaf, higher growth tree Indian berries: plain low growth green leaf plant, about 5 inches wide, 50 in total study area. Helicpters: CAN BE green or yellow, ours were yellow, they were lying on the ground of our area and we counted about 100 total. English Ivy: Extremely native. by oberserving how much there was and how it grew together and wasn't seperated, it is about 5 inches wide, it is a green low life plant.
