They… Who are they to pass judgment on us? Our addiction to technology, music and the way we dress They tell us that in they’re days everything was better than ours Their music their books and how they passed the hours It’s true their life was so much more care-free They never worried about global warming or HIV In our world nothing is the same drugs can kill you the first time They had the chance of trail and error time after time We do spend a lot more time on our cellular phones It’s so much cheaper than even an ice-cream cone We don’t know Tom Selek or Molly Ringwald Thelma and Louise who are they in today’s world They start to talk about they’re life and obsess They tell us what to do, but we couldn’t care less From the outside looking in this seems absurd But this has gone on for thousands of years or haven’t you heard? You would think children of the past obeyed their parents But on an Egyptian tomb you’ll see the proof of kid’s gone errant Although my own parents are the best and I can’t complain It’s just a generation gap that sometimes drives us insane So we don’t expect you to speak our lingo or slang Since you’re too old to get it and it and baby it ain’t your thang So let’s come to an understanding that we will never understand each other Until we are parents ourselves we can’t be appreciate one another.
