The man downstairs is bursting with greed His talent deception, these warnings please heed He works so hard, continuously So he can distract you, you’ll never be free The fires below rage and burn As he waits for you to make just one wrong turn
The man upstairs radiates love, And holds the ones He keeps up above He knows the path of all who exist Even the ignorant, He has a list He gave you a choice, long long ago To choose your fate amid His golden glow
What would you choose? Perhaps to ignore? Or would you consider, you might want to know more But the other is angry and crawled through, Finding his target, to horribly mislead you The man upstairs draws a clear line The other makes it hard to define
People fight, fall and scream All because you believed a false dream Above He weeps, He is in great pain Below he leaps, he has much to gain Out of the dark a hero rises But falls to the deeds of evil surprises
So the war rages on Seemingly all hope is gone The line disappears Unleashing all of your fears A sparrow flies, his lament a sad song For there is no longer a line between right and wrong
THE BATTLE
A poem By: Mauri Cummins
