While I'm on this boat, lonely and poor, Americans are shopping at their favorite store! I can't wait 'till I get to place where I will be free, from the harshness and difficulty, and only these three, my brother, my sister, and me can get to our new home where we're free.
Life on the boat is harder than I thought, food for three hundred people are served in one pot! I don't even know if my family and I can make it, to the place where I won't get punched and hit. I know the boat will make it to its stop, but will I be there to reach the top?
The captain says we're close to the end of the ride, and luckily we'll make it in before high tide. I see a giant torch as we go over the horizon, I wonder how high it was, maybe a thousand? As we get closer, I realize it's a lady, holding a torch and a book with letters on it maybe.......................
.............................We've arrived on Ellis Island, and we're in line to get checked while hundreds more are piling - in. When I get to the counter, and they give me the OK, I see a plaque that's right behind someone from the UK. It says.......................
Now I know why I'm here, to be free from hardship, and the falling tear. I'm here to be appreciated with love. The ship was just the messanger dove, carrying the message for all to see. That America was supposed to set me FREE.
