Debate Vocabulary
Significance: the quality of having importance or being regarded as having great meaning
Relevant: having some sensible or logical connection with something else, such as the matter being discussed or investigated
Fallacy: a mistaken belief or idea, something that is believed to be true but is false
Resonable/Rational/Logical: closely related words meaning governed by, or showing evidence of, clear and sensible thinking and judgment, based on reason rather than emotion or prejudice
Refute/Rebut: synonyms that mean to prove something to be false or someone to be in error, either through logical argument or by providing evidence to the contrary
Assertion: a strong statement that something is true
Proposition: a proposal, idea, offer, or plan put forward for consideration or discussion
