Arch Bridges Arches are good choices for crossing valleys and rivers since the arch doesn't require piers in the center. They use a curved structure which provides a high resistance to bending forces.
Suspension Bridges The suspension bridge allows for the longest spans. Though suspension bridges are leading long span technology today, they are an old form of bridge.
Truss Bridges Trusses are used to stiffen and support a bridge by distributing the loads and forces acting upon the bridge. They have triangular configurations. Trusses are also used on cantilever bridges and to support the decks in suspension bridges.
BRIDGES
Data Log: Day 1: We made hanging tresses to support the roads. We made teo towers wich have not been connected. We ran out of blue and gray pieces. We are now trying to connect the two bridges . Day 2: We tried to test the bridge and realized that we needed more pieces to try and make the bridge sturdy. At the end of the load test we decided to break down everythnig and start from scratch. Day 3: We are now building the bridge with a square and triangle design. It actually holds better. Day 4: Bridge is now strong enough to build a pedestrian bridge. Now we are done.
Power of Tringles Triangles are the strongest shape capable of withstanding the most pressure. Using triangles throughout the brindge makes it stronger.
