Yi Sun-Sin
Early Life He was always one for war tactics, playing such games as a kid. At one point he was married, and had at least one son. He started his career as the average foot soldier, and with the help of a friend named Yu Seong-ryong, was able to become an admiral pretty quickly. However his jealous superiors falsley accused him of fleeing battle, demoting him back to foot soldier.
The Turtle Ship Yi Sun-sin was widely known at the time for inventing the Turtle ship, but really he only improved on the designs made by king Taejong, who ruled in the 1300's. This was one of the reasons Yi was so strong in battle. The Turtle ship was powerful and was used well for Psycological Warfare. Even though they were one of his greatest reasons he was so feared, he only sent five into battle at a time.
The Japanese Double-Agent When the Japanese realised they were at a disadvantage, they sent in Yoshira to play the double-agent. He soon gained Kim Eong-su's trust, and got him to believe an important Japanese leader and his fleet were gathering at the south shores, implying that was a good time for an ambush. The King was desperate for this attack, and when Yi Sun-sin refused the orders to attack, it frustrated him. Yi was immediately demoted, sent to prison, and tortured. Won Gyun took his place as admiral.
Won Gyun When Won took Yi's place as admiral, all he could do was prove how much of a mistake it was for the king to demote Yi. He basically took all of Yi's homemade army, and lead them to there deaths. this let the Japanese gain the advantage. All there was left was twelve Turtle ships. Won Gyun almost survived, but when swimming to the island filled with survivors, he was intercepted by a nearby Japanese fort, and was killed on sight. Yi was immediately promoted back to Admiral (for the third time) and set off to rescue his remaining crew.
Yi's Comeback After Yi rescued the twelve abandoned battle ships, he made a plan to strike back at the Japanese, to make up for Won Gyun's failures. He sends out a fast scout ship, and lures 333 Japanese ships into dangerous territory. The seas were rough, and the area was tight, so many of the ships sunk before even reaching Yi. They killed off as many of the remaining Japanese ships as they could. In a battle with 13 ships against over 300 japanese ships, it ends out with still 13 ships and less than 30 ships. this battle is celebrated in Korea today.
The Final Battle When Yi returned from gathering his twelve remaing ships and picking off a lot of Japanese, they gathered for a full attack to end the war. The battle had the help of the Chinese, with lots of varying ships. The Japanese were demolished, forcing them to flee, though they still had enough force to turn the tables. Yi new this, and when he was fatally wounded by a shot to the arm pit, he made sure no one but his son and nephew knew about his death, to keep up the winning mood. When the battle was over, Chen Li's ship was rescued by Yi's flagship. Chen wanted to thank him, however he found that his rescuer was dead. he fell to the ground three times crying over this fact, and for several weeks pretty much most of the military hung their heads down.
