1877 Edison's Phonograph BY: Dylan Bergman
The phonograph was created by Thomas Edison in Menlo Park. The invention was made out of a type of tape. The tape recorded any sound that was yelled into the recording sound box.. Then the transmitter gave off a simular sound that was spoken into the recording box.
Edison soon realized that the paper tape he used didt work as good so he tried many other materials to make better sound. After many experiments he found that tin foil worked the best.
Edison tried to make the phonograph a mixture of the telegraph and the telephone. He wanted it to transcribe telegraphic messages. Witch can then be sent over the telegraph.
You could record a song then the vibrations of your voice would stay on the little metal cylinder with tin foil wrapped around it. The first song recorded was ''Mary had a little lamb.''
'' I never did anything by accident, nor did any of my inventions come by accident; they came by work. '' Thomas A. Edison
