Rewriting: x -5x+2x-10 *Factor as usual x -5x+2x-10 x(x-5) 2(x-5) (x+2)(x-5)
y=x -3x-10 (Factor as you would any trinomial) ?*?=-10 ?+?=-3
1st: y=x -3x-10 2nd: Check to see if the equation is = to 0. YES! Y is also known as "0." 3rd: You would factor this equation as if any trinomial.
THE EQUATION MUST=0!
Solution: (x+2)(x-5) After finsing this, You have to REMEMBER to solve these to expressions completely because x is your FINAL soulution!!
As in the beginning, you must make each equation = to 0! x+2=0 and x-5=0
REMEMBER! That your answer should be points (x-intercepts!). After solving the two equations, you should come up with the two FINAL equations of x=-2 and x=5 which gives the two points of (-2,0) and (5,0)!
