Swimming to the left, The right, and again. Your sleeves wag around as You go around in circles. You slowly glide around Like a ribbon in the wind. Your body bows like a ballerina But then stops so unexpectedly. You don’t seem to notice me, And you just go along with your business… And I’m not sure if you’re pretending, Or you really can’t see me. Your orange scaly body, Reminds me of a dragon. And your slimy sticky skin, Reminds me of moss in water. I wonder how you feel; You just glide around all day. Maybe you are bored And you need someone to play. You don’t really mind, That I watch you as you swim. And maybe you do, But you don’t want to be rude. Without a care, you slowly glide Around and around again.
The Goldfish
The poetic devices I used in this poem are alliteration such as when I say, 'your body bows like a ballerina' and 'your slimy, sticky skin' and I also used end rhyme in this poem when I say You just glide around all day and then and you need someone to play.
I like this poem because I love playing with the words, and my happiness and joy in watching the goldfish are reflected throughout this poem.
