Animal Farm
Allegorical comparison.
Animal Farm reflects the facts of Russian Revolution in an allegorical way. Old Major reflects Karl Marx. He gave the idea of Animalism like Karl Marx giving the idea of Communism. The way of representing the scene Snowball chasen by the dogs of Napoleon can be compared to Joseph Stalin exiling Leo Trotsky from Russia. Joseph Stalin used propaganda to control the citizens of Russia with media and numerous speechs saying that Stalin is the best leader ever. This is well represented by Napoleon using Sqealor blocking other animals thoughts and ideas and telling them Napoleon is always right. Also Mr.Jones getting banished from the farm is well represented at the beginning. Showing the fact of Nicholas the second and his family getting banished by its own country.
Author
George Orwell (Eric Blair) George Orwell was born in 1903. He moved to England when he was one. He was born in the family of 'lover-upper-middle class.' Orwell was best known for his journalism. Newsweek quoted hin as, 'the finest journalist of his day and the foremost architect of the English essay since Hazlitt.' In 1944, Orwell finished his anti-Stalinist allegory Animal Farm and got recognized as a novelist. Using allegory in a spectacular way. He was a 'democratic socialist'.
At the beginning, it starts with old major teaching the other animal about the idea of Animalism. Three days later, old major dies and three pig begin to lead the story; Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealor. One day, the animals revolt against Mr. Jones. They change the name of the farm to Animal Farm and set the seven commandments. After the revolution, Snowball started teaching the animals how to read and write also giving food plentiful. But behind the curtains, Napoleon and Squealor was trying to get the power all by themselves. When Snowball gave the animal a plan about the windmill, Napoleon and Squealor opposed. When Napoleon trained the nine dogs of Bluebell he got rid of Snowball. He started to control the mind of animal by using Squealor as a propaganda telling them that Snowball was the spy of Mr. Jones at the first place. They started to build Windmill in Napoleon's control. He started to live at the house of Mr. Jones. Napoleon started trade with humans for essential needs only at first but when times passed by, he now traded for luxiouries of his own. Later on, Boxer became weak and collapsed. Napoleon told the animals that he have send him to the hostipal but old Benjamin found out that Boxer was actually been sold to the horse slaughter. Many years have passed and the seven commandments have been shorten to a single phrase: 'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.' And finally at the end, Napoleon announces his alliance with the human and the labouring classes of both worlds.
