Jane is a young woman who is learning about life and love. Most imporantly she is learning about realtionships, the harsh realities of her parents very troubled relationship and then the feelings she gets for Ricky. She is very much someone most teenagers can relate to at some extent because she is on the journey all young adults must go through. She has the same self consciousness that a lot of young girls feel and foccusses mainly on her faults rather than her strengths. She is missing not having the same attention she had as a little kid especially from her parents who are too busy in their own lives to really know their daughter.
