MICHELANGELO
THE SISTINE CHAPEL: Michelangelo was originally in Rome working on a tomb, but he was interupted when asked to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo was first assigned to paint the 12 Apostiles, however they changed the idea into a more complex idea of creation. The entire ceiling contains over 300 hundre figures and some of the most famous paintings on the ceiling include: Adam and Eve, The Garden of Eden, and the Great Flood. The entire ceiling took about 4 years to complete.
DAVID: When Michelangelo returned to Flourence he was asked by the consuls of the Guild of Wools to complete a sculpture of David started by Agostino di Duccio over 40 years earlier. He finished this masterpeice in 1504 and it became one of his most famous peices of art.
''I already have a wife who is too much for me; she is my art, and my works are my children.'' Michelangelo
''Genius is eternal patience.'' Michelangelo
