May 5, 1879 the third estate broke away from the Estates-General and formed the National Assembly. They took the Tennis Court Oath on June 20 , that said they woudl stay together until a constitution was formed. On July 14, 1789, the mob stormed the Bastille in rebellion against Louis XVI... In the Bastille, there was the Man in the Iron Mask. No one knows his true identity.
There is a military parade on the Champs-Elysees in the morning. Fireworks are set off around the Eiffel Tower at night. There are partys all day long.
America's 4th of July celebration is similar to France's Bastille Day celebration. Both set off fireworks, have parades, and parties. The French, however, include their monuments in many of their festivities. The Eiffel Tower is where fireworks are set off, and the parade is near the Champs Elyees. In America, we have figures such as Uncle Sam that go along with the 4th of July.
