Mountain Hardware
Mountain Hardware is based in Richmond, CA. They design, produce and distrubute outdoor gear such as clothing, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, and outerwear.
I'm Ed Viesturs, one of the greatest mountainers on Earth, and I use and support Mountain Hardware.
Occupations that contribute to the Mouantain Hardware's production:: - Clothing Designer -Field Tester -Public Relations and promotion -manufacturers -shipping & packaging manager -textile color chemist -industrial chemist -retail outlet representatives -Cheif Executive Officer -sponsered athelete (e.g. Ed Viesturs, often hold other jobs such as outdoor guide)
Three products that I purchase: -outdoor gear (e.g. tents, clothes, sleeping bags) -tea, especially Earl Grey -Goalie Gear (i.e. goalie gloves, jersey, pants, wash)
Gear testers for outdoor companies such as Mountain Hardware usually hold another job while testing gear for the company. More often than not, they will guide outdoor expeditionsinto remote areas sucha as the Alaska, yet also places like the your local state's wilderness preserve. In order to hold a position such as thes, you have to have years of experience in the field. No college education is required, yet it is helpful to have a degree in outdoor leadership. It is essentail that the guide has training and certification in first aid and wilderness survival. It is a hugee responsibility, for people are putting their life in your hands. Depending on your locaton, you are sometimes called upon to make decisions that affect groups saftey and comforte. Due to this high level of responsiblity, clients have to pay high for the service. depending on your location (location is key) salaries range from $75 upwards into the thousands. It is hard to give a number for yearly salaries, seeing how different guides make much different salaries based on location and frequency of clients. The employment outlook is fair. Often, guides are given bonuses to test and promote gear of outdoor companies such as Mountain Hardware. I would be interested in such a job, for you would be able to spend time in some of the most beautiful parts of the world. Yet it is hard to affect those around you and make advances for the good of society in such a career. I found my information at http://careers.stateuniversity.com/pages/534/Outdoor-Guide.html and http://www.mountainhardwear.com
