Charles Dickens was born on February 7, 1812. He is the son of Jon and Elizabeth Dickens. In 1824 Jon Dickens was imprisoned for his debt. Charles was put to work in a factory until the family's debt was gone. Charles Dickens was always working as a child and went through schooling at night most of the time. He wrote many other books than the ones I have pictured. Some of them include A Message From the Sea, The Battle of Life, and The Haunted Man and the Ghost's Bargain.
Ebenezer Scrooge is a mean old man who on Christmas Eve gets a visit from the ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. After seeing what happens Scrooge changes his ways and befriends his clerk and the family who was once lost to him.
Oliver Twist grows up in the poor lower class which encourages thievery and prostitution. Oliver refuses to do what the other thieves do. One day he is caught. Then an upper class family takes him in. Nancy is murdered because she tells Oliver's guardian the plan of the other thieves. Sikes is hung and Oliver lives hapily with his new family.
Madame Defarge tries to get revenge on Darnay because he is related to Marquis Evrmonde. All of his friends try to stop Madame Defarge from this. It eventually goes to trial. Madame Defarge reads a letter aloud at this trial which makes Darnay realize that the only way to end this is if he dies or if she dies. Darnay is sentenced to death by the guillotine. But his friend Carton decides to take his place on the guillotine. Darnay is still alive and Madame Defrange is still mad.
