The Cerebral Cortex
Often referred to as Grey Matter, the cerebral cortex covers the left and right hemispheres of the brain in a 2-3mm thick covering of grey cells. It is partly responsible for memory, attention, awareness, thought, language and consciousness.
The Cerebrum
The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain, along with being the newest (evolutionarily speaking). The cerebrum plays a role in many different functions such as: Determining Intelligence Determining Personality Thinking Perceiving Producing and Understanding Language Interpretation of Sensory Impulses Motor Function Planning and Organization Touch Sensation The cerebrum is divided into left and right hemispheres which are connected by the corpus callosum
Corpus Callosum
The Corpus Callosum is responsible for connecting the left and right hemispheres, which allows for communication between the two. The corpus callosum transfers all different types of information between the two hemispheres
