Evolution of the Big Toe
-The big toe acts as a lever for the leg. - As apes developed, the foot was used more for walking then climbing. - 40% of our body weight is supported on the big toe with every step we take. - Every step ends with our entire weight on our big toe
Because the big toe enabled us to walk upright, it allowed our hands to develope into limps that carry things
Because of the big toe, our upright posture led to eye to eye contact, facial expressions and elongated necks. Elongated necks made speech possible. Our upright posture also led to better vision and the growth of our brain.
The big toe allowed humans to decelop into more advanced species. Without the big toes humans wouldn't be able to walk for long distances and do everyday activties that we have adjusted to over the years.
